Tag 5: Antelope Canyon & Monument Valley Nachdem wir es vormittags mal ein wenig ruhiger angehen ließen hatten wir zur Mittagszeit unsere Tour im Lower Antelope Canyon anstehen. Die einstündige Tour durch den schmalen, durch Wasser geformten Spalt war einfach traumhaft. Der Canyon ist eigentlich ein Flusslauf der in den nahe gelegenen Lake Powell mündet, welcher durch die Trockenheit aber fast nie Wasser führt. Nur zwei bis drei mal im Jahr kommt es zu Regenschauer die als Sturzflut den Canyon hinab stürzen. Anschließend fuhren wir weiter zum Monument Valley an der Grenze zwischen Arizona und Utha. Diese riesigen Felsblocke verbindet wahrscheinlich jeder mit der USA und dem wilden Westen. Leider gab es hier in der Gegend keinen Wal Mart Parkplatz so mussten wir im Indianer Dorf Kayenta auf einen merkwürdigen Supermarkt Parkplatz bleiben. Dort kamen ständig betrunkene Typen vorbei und bettelten um Geld und klopften sogar in der Nacht an unserem Wohnmobil, ziemlich gruselig wenn mal den einen oder anderen Amerikanischen Horrorfilm kennt.
